Two gentlemen were
brought together
by an unplanned meeting...
Mark Maingard and Marais Greyling had been working together for a few years. Mark had a dream to feed the hungry and Marais to train disadvantaged youth in hospitality. Combined with their many years in the catering, food and hospitality industry, they joined forces in 2016.
In February 2016, they renovated and equipped a derelict facility in Paarl. On 29 May 2016 the first batch of 200 nutritious hot meals were delivered from their NPC called 2nd Harvest. During this year, Mark met Jae Evans from OTB Global. From this,
OTB Africa was born and 2nd Harvest became Outside the Bowl Africa. OTB Africa is a full profit food production company that specialises in developing and producing food that is high in nutrition to feed the neediest in our communities.
Outside the Bowl Africa is the NPC, who receives 100% of the profits made by OTB Africa. With this money, Outside the Bowl Africa could feed the hungry.

OUR PARTNERS
OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH
COMMUNITIES OF ABUNDANCE
Valley of Abundance, run by Johan Duraan, has been active in the Drakenstein Valley since 2013. Valley of Abundance provides funds, assets, services, and other resources by way of donation to PBO’s to facilitate community transformation.
Their aim was to unite businesses, government, NGO’s, and churches behind an integrated development plan to revive & transform disadvantaged communities.
Johan’s passion has always been to not only feed physically but also spiritually. In 2020, Johan realized that the model they created for Valley of Abundance can be applied anywhere and that they needed to expand their footprint considering the extreme need that was a result of the Covid-19 global pandemic.
And so, Valley of Abundance became Communities of Abundance.
OUR GOAL:
- Outside the Bowl Africa - Feeding 500,000 Children a day by 2025.
- Spiritually Feeding and Discipling 5,000,000 people per day by 2025 in association with Communities of Abundance.
- Enablement Centres across Africa (Schools, Churches, farms).
- Taking hands with Faith-based Organisations, Ministries and NGO’s across Africa.
- Use technology to reach people across Africa where OTB feed.
